| Ulster Youth and Age Group The weekend of 23rd-25th March was the most beautiful weekend of the year to date. As the rest of Banbridge basked in the glorious sunshine, BBQ’s dusted down and fit flops out, swimmers, coaches and parents from Banbridge ASC enjoyed the tropical temperatures of Lisburn Leisureplex at the pinnacle of the Swim Ulster calendar, the Ulster Age Group Championships. Over the meet Banbridge swimmers put in outstanding performances with no less than 105 pb’s achieved out of 118 swims, 51 top 10 places and 9 individual medals, plus the relay medals, undoubtedly the most successful Ulster Age Group Championships in the history of the club. Furthermore, Alex Donnelly, Olivia Knox, Ellie Robinson, Caolan Quinn, Scott Donnelly and Lauren Robinson qualified through the meet for the Swim Ulster Academy, and will join the rest of the group for long course training in July.
Medal Winners - Jenny Wilson and Megan McKenna A very close and exciting gala throughout with Lisburn swimmers strong on the relay events with Banbridge leading in the individual events. As Lisburn stormed ahead in the Medley Relays with three wins. Banbridge fought back in the Backstroke events leaving the scores even. In the Breaststroke Banbridge got the upper hand and were in the lead for the first time but Lisburn bridged the gap in the Butterfly by four points and got closer in the Freestyle events with only two points separating the clubs going into the Freestyle relays but the Lisburn swimmers were sharper on their starts winning again three in a nail biting finish.
