| Brilliant Progress for Banbridge Swimmers At this stage in the swimming season, coaches start to look for evidence that their training plans are working well and producing the goods. The Swim Ulster Burns Graded Gala last weekend, which was attended by 20 swimmers from the club, proved exactly that, with a total of 10 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals as well as 46 additional top 10 places and 57 pb’s. The gala got off to an amazing start with the 200 freestyle which set the tone for the whole weekend and confirmed that Banbridge swimmers are a force to be reckoned with. The purpose of these galas is to allow us to compete against other swimmers of the same age and to progress to the Swim Ulster graded galas by improving their times and confidence. For many of the younger swimmers, this is the first chance for them to swim 100 and 200 m events in a competitive setting. All the swimmers had a super day with the medal tally adding up to 6 gold, 10 silver and 5 bronze. In addition there were 23 top 10 finishes with 27 pb’s being achieved and 37 new events swam.
